Every effort will be made on
my part to keep your mare healthy, happy, and pregnant! I will do my
best to customize her care per your wishes. All mares must be halter
trained and safe for me to handle. If it appears she might be
aggressive/kick my stallion, breeding hobbles may be used. Injured
horses are the last thing you or I want. Champagne Showcase's babies
have been top quality in terms of temperament, intelligence,
conformation and gait. If you are looking for a quality individual with
some added champagne, I believe Casey is the Stallion for your Mare.

The stallion and the mare are
carefully washed with clean water prior to breeding. I try to time the
breeding for 1 live cover. Seminal fluid causes inflammation in the
uterus which can prevent a viable pregnancy, thus, limiting the # of
breedings increases fertility and reduces risk of infection. All mares
must come with a clean fecal sample (no worms), vaccinations up to date,
and free of infection. I promise to provide as safe of housing as
possible, clean, fresh water and abundant grass hay. Any grain or
vitamins you wish her to receive must be provided by you with written
instructions on amounts. The mares must be in good weight, condition
scores of 6-7 are optimal. Thin, undernourished mares or obese mares
simply do not conceive and I wish to optimize your time and dollars
spent. If I am housing you mare until pregnancy is confirmed, a
veterinarian ultrasound will be done on day 18 post cover. Again, this
optimizes your time and dollars spent. If the mare is not in foal, then
the exam can also be used to review uterine health and condition. I
highly recommend a reproductive exam be done by your veterinarian prior
to breeding your mare to make sure she is in good health and infection
free to get a viable pregnancy. Average conception per cycle for equines
in general are between 50-60%. Good veterinarian management can enhance
these numbers. My personal mares have conceived with one breeding on one
cycle. However, they are at home, not stressed by food changes,
environment changes, etc. All mare care, breeding fees, veterinary care,
etc must be paid before the mare leaves my custody. Any injuries,
farrier care, or illnesses will be treated at your expense. |

Champagne Showcase has been
approved by Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Clinic for
Cooled shipped semen. However, I review each case carefully. AI is an
expensive proposition, veterinarian experience in reproduction is
essential. Sound mare health and exam with uterine biopsy is essential.
I pay my vet to collect, extend and ship the semen. This is Fed Ex
overnight. The total cost per shipment is about $300. Only you can
decide if this is worth it. All costs must be paid in advance. If
payment is a check, it must clear the bank before collection will be
done. |
|
Stud fee is $400,
cost per collection and shipment is about $300,
depending upon changes in vet fees.
Mare care is $7.00/ day dry
$10.00/day wet
I can pick
the mare up for $1.20 per mile. Mileage is round trip and can vary
depending upon gas prices. If multiple mares, no added transport
fee.
